A 666-meter bridge shaped like a dragon that breathes fire and water every Saturday and Sunday night at 9PM. Free to watch from the riverbanks. The fire show lasts about 15 minutes. Best viewed from the east bank near the APEC sculpture park. Arrive 30 minutes early for a good spot. Allow 1 hour.

Five limestone and marble hills containing caves, tunnels, and Buddhist sanctuaries. Entry to Thuy Son (Water Mountain, the main one): 40,000 VND (~$1.60). Elevator available for 15,000 VND. Open 7AM-5:30PM. The Huyen Khong Cave with its skylight beam of light is spectacular. 8 km south of city center. Allow 2-3 hours.

The 5.8 km cable car ride is one of the world's longest. Includes a French Village, Fantasy Park, and gardens. 25 km from city center. Allow full day.

Named one of the world's most beautiful beaches by Forbes, this 30 km stretch of white sand is perfect for swimming, surfing, and sunrise watching. Free access. Surfboard rentals available (~200,000 VND / ~$8 per hour). Beach chairs 30,000-50,000 VND. Much less crowded than beaches in Nha Trang or Phuket. Allow half day.

A UNESCO World Heritage town 30 km south of Da Nang with preserved 15th-19th century trading port architecture, lantern-lit streets, and hundreds of tailors.
