More gritty and authentic Vegas energy. Try the SlotZilla zipline ($30-60) above the crowd. Container Park nearby has unique shops and bars.
Las Vegas has the highest concentration of celebrity chef restaurants in the world. Try Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen (Caesars, $60-100 per person), Nobu (Caesars), Joels Robuchon (MGM Grand), or Giada (Cromwell). Lunch is 30-40% cheaper than dinner. Reserve 2-4 weeks ahead for top spots.
Hidden gem: a stunning desert landscape 30 minutes west of the Strip. Entry: $15 per vehicle. The 13-mile scenic drive offers red sandstone formations, desert wildlife, and hiking trails. Casino time with a set budget(2 hours)
Set a cash limit ($100-200 is reasonable for fun). Blackjack and craps are the best odds. Table minimums: $15-25 on the Strip, $5-10 downtown. The house always wins long-term — play for entertainment

Indian citizens need a B1/B2 tourist visa. ESTA visa waiver ($21) available for 40 countries. Las Vegas is a common add-on to a US West Coast trip. Apply at esta.cbp.dhs.gov at least 72 hours before travel. International flights often connect through LAX or SFO.
Hotel rates on the Strip can be 2-3x cheaper Sunday-Thursday vs. Friday-Saturday. A $300/night weekend room can be $80-120 midweek. Resort fees ($40-55/night) are mandatory on top of room rates — always factor them in. Book direct for best price guarantees.
LAS airport is incredibly close to the Strip. Uber/Lyft costs $10-20. Taxis are similar but add $3 airport surcharge. The Deuce bus ($6 for 2 hours) connects the airport to the Strip. Walking the Strip is deceptive — casino-to-casino looks close on a map but takes 15-30 min due to skybridge detours.
Casinos are designed to make you lose track of time and money — no clocks, no windows, free drinks while gambling. Set a daily gambling budget in cash and leave cards in the room safe. The house always wins long-term. Table game minimums on the Strip start at $15-25; downtown starts at $5-10.
June-August temperatures regularly exceed 40°C (105°F). Heat-related ER visits spike every summer. Carry water everywhere, wear sunscreen, and limit outdoor time between 11AM-4PM. The walk between Strip hotels offers little shade. Stay hydrated — alcohol dehydrates you faster in the desert.
Tip everyone in Las Vegas: cocktail servers ($1-2 per drink), dealers (5-10% of winnings or $5 per session), valets ($3-5), bellhops ($2-5 per bag), housekeeping ($3-5/day). Restaurants: 18-20%. If you're winning at a table, tipping the dealer is expected and brings good karma.
I went to Vegas for the shows and the Strip. I found Red Rock Canyon, a jazz bar downtown, and the strange beauty of a desert city that doesn't make sense.
Pool season opens, temperatures are perfect, hotel rates drop midweek, and you won't risk heatstroke walking to dinner. Here's your spring Vegas guide.
