Munich is one of Germany's safest major cities. During Oktoberfest, watch for pickpockets and be aware of intoxicated crowds. Don't ride with unlicensed taxi drivers outside the festival. The Hauptbahnhof (central station) area can be rough after midnight. Standard precautions apply. Emergency: 112. If cycling, use dedicated bike lanes — Munich drivers are attentive but fast.
