The palace staircases are steep, narrow, and unlit in many sections. Bring a phone flashlight. Some rooftops have low walls or no railings. Wear sturdy shoes with grip — marble floors become slippery during or after rain. Avoid climbing the upper levels in strong wind.
Orchha has only one ATM (SBI near the market) — withdraw cash in Jhansi. No international restaurants or bars. Shops close by 8PM. Internet is unreliable. Mobile data works (Jio and Airtel have coverage). Stock up on any special supplies before arriving.
