Most nationalities get 30 days visa-free in the Philippines. You must show a return or onward ticket at check-in. Extension to 59 days available at immigration offices in Puerto Princesa for PHP 3,030 (~$55).
Most travelers fly into Puerto Princesa (PPS) then take a 5-hour van (PHP 600-800, ~$11-14) or bus to El Nido. AirSwift operates small direct flights from Manila and Cebu to Lio Airport (ENI), 4km from town, for PHP 5,000-10,000 one-way. Book AirSwift weeks in advance — planes are tiny.
El Nido town is small and walkable. For Nacpan Beach or Las Cabanas, rent a motorbike (PHP 400-500/day, ~$7-9) or hire a tricycle. The road to Nacpan is now paved but still bumpy in parts. Tricycles to the beach cost PHP 500-700 round trip with waiting time.

Wear water shoes or reef booties — coral, rocks, and sea urchins are everywhere. Jellyfish are common June-October. Life jackets are mandatory on all boat tours (provided free). Non-swimmers can still enjoy lagoons with life jackets and guides.
All visitors must pay a PHP 200 (~$4) Eco-Tourism Development Fee (ETDF) valid for 10 days, collected at the Municipal Tourism Office on Real Street. Keep your receipt — tour operators check it before departure. This funds reef and beach conservation.
Travel GuidesBoth are spectacular. But they're spectacular in completely different ways. Here's how to decide.
