Same as Paris — US/UK/AU citizens get 90 days visa-free in the Schengen area. Indian citizens need a Schengen visa. Nice's airport (NCE) has direct flights from across Europe and some international routes. Your Schengen visa covers all of France including day trips to Monaco (15 minutes by train).

Nice's public beaches are free (pebbles, not sand — bring a beach mat or towel). Private beach clubs charge 20-30 EUR for a sunbed. The pebbles are smooth but water shoes (~5 EUR at any beach shop) make getting in and out much more comfortable. The water is swimmable June through October.

Includes Castle Hill elevator, Matisse Museum, and guided tours. If you plan to visit multiple attractions over a few days, it saves 30-40% over individual tickets.
Unlike some Riviera towns, Nice has a year-round local population and authentic Nicois culture. Learn a few key local foods: socca (chickpea crepe), pissaladiere (onion tart), salade nicoise (the real version has no lettuce), and pan bagnat (a pressed nicoise sandwich). These are Nicois, not generically French.
Don't leave bags unattended on the beach — petty theft is the main safety concern. Use a waterproof pouch for phone and cash when swimming. The area around the train station (Gare de Nice-Ville) can feel sketchy after dark. The Old Town and Promenade are well-lit and safe in the evenings.
Cheaper than Cannes, more character than Monaco, and a train ride from everywhere worth visiting. Nice is the smart Riviera choice.

Azure water, socca on the promenade, hilltop village day trips, and the Mediterranean light that painters have been chasing for centuries.
