A 800-meter bamboo bridge stretching across rice paddies to a small temple — rebuilt annually by local monks after the rainy season. Entry by donation. Pai's main street transforms nightly into a vibrant market with Thai street food, live music, handmade crafts, and hippie clothing. Open 5PM-11PM every evening. Pad thai and rotis from THB 40-60 (~$1-2). The vibe peaks around 7-9PM. Also try the Pai Reggae Bar and Don't Cry craft beer bar nearby.
A lesser-known swimming hole hidden in the jungle, 8km from town. Entry THB 20 (~$0.60). The pool below the waterfall is deep enough for jumping from the rocks (check depth first). Best in rainy season (July-October) when flow is strongest. Bring insect repellent. Allow 1.5 hours including the short jungle walk.
Historic WWII-era bridge built by Japanese forces, now a quirky attraction with nearby cafes, vintage VW vans for photos, and strawberry fields (November-February). Free entry. The bridge itself is small but the surrounding area has become a popular stop. 9km south of town on Route 1095.

March to April brings agricultural burning that fills the valley with thick smoke, creating hazardous air quality (AQI often exceeds 200). Visibility drops to a few hundred meters and breathing outdoors is unpleasant. If you must visit during this period, bring an N95 mask and check air quality apps daily.
Despite its relaxed vibe, Pai is in conservative Thailand. Cannabis is legal but public intoxication is frowned upon. Dress respectfully at temples (cover shoulders and knees). The town's bohemian reputation attracts a mix of backpackers, digital nomads, and Thai tourists — weekends and holidays see Thai visitor surges.
