Procida is only 3.7 km² — you can walk everywhere in 30-40 minutes. Electric scooters and golf carts are available for rent (~€30-50/day). Avoid bringing a car — roads are extremely narrow and parking nonexistent. The L1 micro-bus loops the island for €1.50.
Unlike nearby Capri, Procida remains working-class and affordable. A full seafood lunch at Marina Corricella costs €15-25 per person. Simple B&Bs start at €60/night. The best value is lingua di Procida pastry (€3) — a flaky shell filled with lemon custard from Bar Dal Cavaliere.
Procida is a working fishing island, not a resort. Fishermen haul nets at Marina Corricella early morning — watch from a respectful distance. Avoid blocking boat ramps with selfies. Many families have fished these waters for generations. The daily catch appears on restaurant menus by lunch.
The Processione dei Misteri on Good Friday is Procida's biggest annual event — locals carry floats through narrow streets in a tradition dating to the 1600s. Hotels book months ahead for Easter week. If you visit during Holy Week, book accommodation by January.
Winter (November-March) ferry service is heavily reduced — sometimes only 2-3 boats per day. Check Caremar schedules before traveling. Rough seas can cancel services entirely. Many restaurants and hotels close from November to Easter. The island is best visited April-October.
