Accessibility
Last reviewed: September 30, 2026
FairTravels is committed to making this site usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation or other assistive technology. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.
How we check
We check a sample of our pages, including the home page, a destination guide and a blog post, with automated accessibility tests.
Known limitations
Some parts of the site do not yet meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. These are the problems we know about:
- Some small text does not have enough contrast with its background: the caption under a guide's map and, in the light theme, the day and itinerary-length buttons on guides and the sign-in link in the site header. We have not fully checked text that sits over photos. (WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum))
- On a guide's map, day markers can overlap so that too little of one is left to click or tap, and screen readers announce each marker only as “Map marker”. (WCAG 2.4.6 Headings and Labels; WCAG 2.5.8 Target Size (Minimum))
- On phones, the row of quick facts over the photo at the top of a guide scrolls sideways but cannot be scrolled with the keyboard. (WCAG 2.1.1 Keyboard)
- Some pages, such as About, Contact and blog posts, do not mark their main content as the main region, and the search page has no main heading. (WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships)
- In the chat window, the “Try asking” label does not have enough contrast, parts of the conversation are marked as list items outside a list, and on phones the open chat covers the page without being marked as a dialog. (WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships; WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum); WCAG 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value)
