Grab (ride-hailing app) works in Chiang Mai and is the easiest way to get around without haggling. A ride from the airport to Old City costs about 150-200 THB via Grab vs. 150 THB for a fixed-price taxi or 40 THB for the airport bus to the city center.
Agricultural burning causes hazardous air quality (AQI 200-400+) from late February through April. If visiting during this period, bring an N95 mask, check AQI via the IQAir app, and stay indoors during peak pollution hours. November-February has the cleanest air.
