The macaques at Uluwatu Temple are notorious thieves who snatch sunglasses, phones, hats, and jewelry — then 'trade' them back for food via temple staff. This is the classic Uluwatu gotcha. Remove loose items before entering and never make eye contact or hold food.
Most Bukit beaches (Suluban, Padang Padang, Nyang Nyang) are only accessible or swimmable at low-to-mid tide; high tide covers the sand and the reef breaks turn dangerous. Check a Bali tide chart before making the long staircase climb down, and never swim over exposed reef.
